Foodstagramable!

Admittedly, I'm one of millions who are fond of posting "food" on social media. I got a lot more food photos than selfies on my instagram account. But, I'm not like most foodies who shoot food with techniques like "rule-of-thirds", "lay flat on the table" or "framing". I'm more of the point-and-shoot type of "foodtographer". But, following the basics of food photography would make your food shots instagram-worthy.

6 Tips for that awesome foodshot :

1.  Find the light : It doesnt matter whether you need to lie down on the floor or climb on top of the table. Just make sure that you have the lights and shadows at the right places.

2. Get in as close as possible : Make your audience salivate as they see the ingredients really close to their screens. Let them see the fibers of meat fall off that juicy baby back ribs.

3. Be a minimalist, focus on your subject : Sometimes a grand set up would distract the attention of your viewers from the actual star of the photo. Having less utensils would focus more on the food than the plating.

4. Timing : Some food tend to lose their "foodtogenecity" very quickly. That is why you would need to take photos of it while its still pleasing to the eyes. Ice cream and other frozen delights has this "limitations". So, once the food is served, immediately grab your phone and take that instagram shot.

5. Know your cameraphone : Knowing the basics of food photography would be useless if you don't know how to maximize your camera's potential. Learn how to adjust the manual settings, iso, exposure and shutter speed. This would come handy especially if you want to step up your foodstagram game.

6. Do some  post-processing on your phone : Tweak your photos using apps directly from your phone. Add filters, collage your photos, create memes or create foodvideos using your phone. Upload photos using your mobilephone is the most convenient way of sharing your shots online.

Here are some of my foodshots this past month.

This Italian cheesecake is just right for my sweet tooth. It is Not too sweet, not too creamy, it is just right. If you want to taste some authentic Italian food, just dropby Monalisa Ristorante in Alabang.

Lung Hin Restaurant is the perfect place to dine if you are looking for authentic Chinese food are around Ortigas. Their garlic beef has the right amount of garlic to tickle your tastebuds.

I was roaming around MegaMall when I saw this pastry stall named "The Flour Girl". I bought this dark choco brownie which was definitely bang for the buck. Their products are all affordable.

Look at this mouthwatering Turtle Pie! Maybe you are wondering why it is called as such. This is because there are hard pieces of crusts which encloses the yummy cake (just like the carapace of a turtle). Relish Morato made me want to try more of their desserts.

Adobo has always been one of the my favorite pinoy viands. But Sarsa's take on Adobong Liempo is on a different level. It has thicker liempo which melts inside your mouth. The meat as you can see is generously drizzled with adobo sauce and topped with pork floss. The hard boiled eggs on the side are  more than  decorations.

I am not fond of eating vegetables but I would eat tortang talong everyday. Sarsa's tortang talong is not your traditional torta. It is a fusion of spicy tuna and tortang talong which for me tasted like Maling.

Sarsa's chicken inasal is definitely a must try! I really love how the chicken tasted so well with calamasi and toyo. I wish they serve bigger portions of chicken.

This Chinese Style chicken from Lung Hin restaurant in Marco Polo Ortigas is a little bland for me. But I think my Mom would love this because it is very tender and a bit on the "less-msg" side.

Salted egg craze has run over the metro for quite a while now. Chicken, potato chips and now this salted egg squid from Lung Hin restaurant. But this one is soooooooooo YUMMY! You gotta taste this one. It is outrageously good!
